Submitting Your Medical Bills To ShareWELL

Rely on ShareWELL When You Need it Most

What Is A Sharing Request?

A Sharing Request is a method through which ShareWELL members can submit their medical expenses for sharing by the community. Instead of traditional deductibles, ShareWELL operates on a per-member, per Sharing Request basis. This means that each Sharing Request is the total number of bills related to a single request. Bills are incurred from licensed medical professionals and facilities, such as physicians, emergency rooms, and hospitals.

As a self-pay patient, use the following instructions to facilitate your medical bills. Not all providers and all methods of payment will be the exact same, but these guidelines will help you navigate the billing process efficiently.

Emergency Room

When asked for your insurance or ID card, let them know you are a self-pay patient. Request any available discounts. Do not show any other ID cards you may have for healthcare benefits at the emergency room. You can pay up to your UA amount directly to the provider while you are at the visit or after they send your bill in the mail. Open a Sharing Request as soon as its convenient and send the bills to ShareWELL as you receive them.

Preventive Services

First, understand what preventive services you enrolled in when you signed up. Some members will elect to have no preventive services included. You may have other coverage that provides for preventive services not administered by ShareWELL. If you have an ID card (Example: A MEC Plan) with a network, your preventive services are not being administered by ShareWELL. In that case, provide your ID card for billing.

Medications

Medications for acute healthcare needs are eligible for sharing like any other medical expense after the Unshared Amount is met. You may have included other prescription coverage when you signed up for medications that are not eligible for sharing, such as maintenance medications. Login to your member portal for details for any prescription plan you have.

Out-Patient Care

This includes non preventive care such as doctor visits, urgent care, imaging, and recovery therapy. If you have a plan that covers these services with a copay and you do not have an eligible Sharing Request that exceeds your UA then present your card to the provider. If you are submitting or have an approved Sharing Request with ShareWELL then present yourself as a self-pay patient and ask for applicable discounts. You may also contact ShareWELL for prepayment or at time of service payment options.

The types of Sharing Requests that can be submitted

Unshared Amount (UA) Sharing Requests should be submitted once a medical incident exceeds your selected Unshared Amount of $1,500, $3,000, or $6,000.

Preventive Sharing Requests are included only if you add preventive sharing during signup. If you have questions about what is included with your membership, refer to your member portal or contact ShareWELL.
